Training Mentality

Reid believes in 1 – 1 ½ hour training sessions of players playing in constant motion. He stresses the importance of improving technical skills for players between the ages of 3-12 and the importance of moving off the ball, maintaining possession of the ball, and improving tactical skills beginning at the age of 10.

From the first day Reid stepped foot into QuickFeet, he worked with Trainer Cesar Pena to develop programs for players of every age beginning at age 3. Reid is a meticulously organized person and has and will continue to do whatever it takes to help develop a winning organization.

Climbing the Coaching/Training ladder

Reid enjoyed a one year stint in the year of 2000 volunteering for the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), in Newark , DE , working with Patric Farrell and Brent Ruge, both former college soccer teammates. Reid assisted Farrell and Ruge and suddenly began developing a passion for training. “If it was not for both Pat and Brent, then I would not be training players right now. They really encouraged me to help others.”

In 2001, Reid volunteered for the New Carrollton Boys and Girls Club U-12 soccer team where he assisted current city New Carrollton Council Member James Wildoner. Reid helped the team to become more technical on the ball, he gave them homework to improve their understanding of the games, and as soon as you know it by the middle of the spring season, the team made great strides.

Reid then began another coaching stint in Delaware at New Castle Middle School in Newark, DE from 2002-2003. There he assisted Ruge for two years and helped to influence the play of youth players in the state of Delaware . “The two years coaching those players really set me free, and I knew that I wanted to take my experiences from Delaware and continue training players in Maryland .”

Reid’s return to the state of Maryland began following graduation in 2004. When he returned, he immediately contacted Myron Garnes, Lion Soccer Club Director of Coaching, who helped find coaching positions with the Chesapeake Athletic Dragons, Reston Soccer Association, and Herndon Soccer Association, and as they say from there, the rest is history.
